Felix H. “Buddy” Savoie III, MD is an internationally recognized expert in the areas of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery and Sports Medicine. He is American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery certified in Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. A graduate of the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, he completed his internship and residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. After completing AO, Hand and Microvascular Surgery, and Arthroscopy fellowships, he returned to Jackson to enter private practice and as an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Mississippi. Dr. Savoie came to the Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans in 2007 after Hurricane Katrina to take on the mantle of Professor of Clinical Orthopedics, Chief of the Division of Sports Medicine, and Director of the Tulane Institute of Sports Medicine. In July 2015, he was named Chairman of the Department of Orthopedics.
Larry D. Field, MD is an orthopedic sports medicine surgeon specializing in shoulder and elbow surgery and serves as program director for the ACGME-accredited Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Fellowship Program at the Mississippi Sports Medicine Center in Jackson, Mississippi. He completed his orthopedic surgical training at the University of Mississippi with additional fellowship training with Dr. Bruno Noesberger in Interlaken, Switzerland and with Professor Ulrich Holz in Stuttgart, Germany. Dr. Field also completed a sports medicine fellowship training program at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. He is active in clinical research related to shoulder and elbow disorders and has written and edited several books on these conditions. In addition, Dr. Field has published over 150 peer-reviewed scientific papers, review articles, and book chapters on shoulder- and elbow-related topics and lectures nationally and internationally regarding shoulder and elbow problems. Dr. Field is actively involved in a number of professional orthopedic organizations and societies including the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America, where he currently serves on the Board of Directors. Dr. Field also participates as an editorial board member for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery and Techniques in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.
Scott P. Steinmann, MD received his undergraduate degree from Columbia University in New York, New York and his MD degree from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. He completed an orthopedic residency at New York Orthopedic Hospital, followed by a shoulder fellowship at Columbia and a hand fellowship at Mayo Clinic. He is a member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Association for Hand Surgery, the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, and the Minnesota Orthopedic Society. Dr. Steinmann has participated in numerous meetings as course chair, faculty, and moderator. He also continues to be very active as a scientific reviewer and editor of various journals. Dr. Steinmann holds the position of Professor of Orthopedics at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and is a member of various committees at Mayo Clinic regarding research, focusing on elbow, shoulder, and hand surgery.
