The previous editions are fairly well known to otolaryngology trainees. Organized into 11 chapters, the book reviews topics in rhinology, otology, laryngology, head and neck cancer, facial plastics, trauma, sleep medicine, and endocrine and salivary gland surgery. The fourth edition also introduces a pediatric chapter that consolidates materials specific to the pediatric population that had previously been scattered throughout various sections in previous editions. In addition, there are 4 appendices that offer easy-to-access information on cancer staging, cranial nerves, vaccinations, and anesthetic agents and considerations. The body of the text retains its standard structure of bullet-point, outline format writing.

Informative and concise, Pasha and Golub s pocket handbook is often thought of as the essential quick reference text for residents and medical students. Small enough to fit into white coat pockets (although rather hefty), its bulleted format allows readers the ability to review a topic in a brief amount of time. The 67-page index has been well revised, making searching through the book easier than initial editions. The content of the book is densely packed with information ranging from anatomy to epidemiology, diagnosis, and treatment. The bolded text highlights facts that are high yield and often tested. Those who desire longer prose may find the outline format of the book frustrating and insufficient. However, the book is meant to offer an overview of topics rather than in-depth explorations; a small section often encompasses an entire chapter in standard texts.

Raza Pasha, M.D. Dr. Pasha is a Board Certified Ear, Nose, and Throat-Head and Neck Surgeon with extensive training and research experience. He is a sole author of a highly rated comprehensive review book on his specialty. To receive certification from the American Board of Otolaryngology, Dr. Pasha completed an undergraduate degree, four years of medical school, and five years of specialty training. Dr. Pasha has been published in many medical journals and completed research in many institutions, including The Cleveland Clinic, Texas Medical Center, Detroit Medical Center, and Ohio State University. His has also published a review book on Ear, Nose, and Throat-Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Pasha is a strong advocate for patient education.
